me 'n Makita

Yo Folks!

Tomorrow I have work to do. Norski and this french guy (AKA frenchie) are going to get som help from this piglet. We're going to set up a dry wall. Our neighbors are noisy and smoky (tabacco smoke), hence we have painted a almost gas-thight membrane (usually used in bathrooms!) over half the wall in one of the bedrooms. But since that only solves the "smoky" part, we also have to isolate against noise. So now they, eh--we, are discussing if we shall use 7,5cm or 10 cm isolation behind the dry-wall.   Any suggestions?

AN ITALIAN JOURNEY

Dear friends. Last week I went to Italy with my live-ins. We went by public transport til Linz (yuck!) But redhead and norski claimed it was better than driving, and the train was indeed very fast. I think it cruises around 200 kmh. Not too bad really.  Still I'm used to individual transport with a high CO2 output.
In Linz we changed to car-transport.

Pic 0: Helping out with packing the suitcase.

Pic 1 : Sleepy on the Motorway

Our target was Görz, or "Gorizia" as the Italians say. It's located in the province of Friaul (Friuli) It more or less is a divided city on the Italian-Slovene border. The not-so-unknown river of Isonzo runs through the city.  Redhead claimed her 'cestors came from a horse-stable within city-limits.  Lotta horse?$%& if you ask me.

Pic 2: An Italian view from our B&B window.

Pic 3: The first thing I saw whilst entering the B&B. I felt right at home. (For you non-belivers: this is emperor Franz-Josef of Austria-Hungary. )

We vere all tired after the journey. So Redhead and norski wanted to rest. I being a ferkel an' all, had to go out and hunt my own food. So I hunted down a pizza at the local store (se pic)   When I came back to the room the smell of pizza waked my two live-ins, so they wanted a bite as well.

Pic 3,5: Walking the pizza in downtown Gorizia.

We did a lot of things. Here is:

Pic 4: me and my carrier on Piazza Italia in Trieste. Always a nice town to visit. Note this picture is changed a bit after the PRISM scandal.  Can you spot a handsom ferkel in this shot?

We went mountain walking in the limestone alps north of Görz.

Pic 5: Some large mountain. Norski even added a weather raport over Instagram.

Pic 6: We walked 700 altitude-meter up the mountain side, then over the top, then 350 altitude-meters down. Took a picture of this mountain cabin, then went 350m up, and then 700m down to the car. Took 6,5 hrs.  Glad I was carried. Food serving was lousy.

Pic 7: Norski posing. Stupid cap.

Some day later we went for a trip along the Isonzo-river. Here, during WWI, there were 12 mayor battles between the Austrian-Hungarian-empire against the Italians. Anyway the loss of life was tremendous. many 10 000 soldiers (70k?) lost their lives. Some survived. Among them Ernest Hemingway (a then 19 year old ambulance driver)
Here is one of the small towns along the River. This is in Slovenia.

Pic 8: A small Slovene town of "Kanal" in the rain. Strange milky-blue colour on the Isonzo though...

We also visited Cividale del Friuli (this is in Italy)  There is apparently an important wine-industry here.  A nice place. Nice food. Tried out a small slow-food restaurant here.

Pic 9: Cividale del Friuli.

Anyway; it was nice to visit Italy again. For about 300 years, I think, this used to be part of Austria. Strange to think about that. We even saw some places serving typical austrian dished, like dumplings and wiener schnitzel. And of course lots of buildings with the typical colouring, as also seen in Hungary and all the other countries that used to be part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire.

Hope you all liked the photos.

Happy easter

Got no eggs, so this fruit basket will have to do.
Spent a quiet and relaxing easter holliday in Linz (or "The Zentralraum" as I call it!)  Almost saw a big accident on the Highway. People driving like crazy with no distance between their vehicles. Insane if you ask me!
Now I'm searching for a measurement tape, 'cause me new tailor is planning a new summer costume for me, and she'll need my piglet-length/width etc.    Will present it here later this year.  (excitement, eh?)
This will be a quiet week. A time for hot chocolate in front of the open fire (if I had one) a long baths in the bathtube.    Did I say "Happy easter"?
Bye

Merry merry Christmas!

While you folks have been drinking eggnog and singing X-mas carols -and-whatever. I have been busy, I went with norski to visit a friend of his(Unni). There we were making a norski-cake, I belive it's called "Kransekake" or-somethin'-like-that. First I thought it was up there with "lefse n' Lutefisk" (you Norwegian-americans will probably know what I mean..), but it actually turned up quite nice. BTW we are not quite finished yet. So your fav piglet will be back with more pics, but this is what I'll be showing you for the moment:

As usual we traveled by way of public transport. Being a piglet n' all, I'm not so much into that stuff, but norski is turning into a tree-hugger or somethin', so thats way we choose the transport of the poor...     On the above pic yours truly has arrived at Unni's, and are warming up with some tee (no bisquits unfortunately!) Note to myself: Be more demanding.

Here I'm working me ..piglet tail off.  It was a bit too hot, so I got somethin' to drink from the locals. Next time, norski said, I should just take my pullover off.  Me; I think I got a taste for the old Jägermasta.
Also on the photo: Those weird cakes.

Pasta-photo:  Happily cleaning out the bowl of oven baked pasta-bolognese. Nobody said I should stop dishing in, so I just kept on.

Luckily I never quite fill up, always leaving a small corner for the nicer things in life.  This time it was filled with marzipan. Not the worst deal.
Prost!

Winter is here!

Hi

Today I did a walk in the lightly forrested area  at Karlsplatz. There was a Christmas-marked going on, and I saw two sorry boggers. I belive they are called Mangalitsa-piglets (ferkels) and they are from a rare hungarian breed. I tried of course to tease them a bit, but they were kind of living in their own little sphere of tranquility.

I, of course, had not so much time to spare for such hicks from the Puszta, so I pushed on to a new mall buildt on top of Wien Mitte. Here is a shot from yours truly in the park (Stadtpark)

A bit cold today, with -1 degree C, and a fresh breeze to top that.

Merry X-mas.

Still here !

Hi fans

I'm still here. Just had a busy sommer. First I went to the Azores, then for a music festival in Styria in Austria(Bad Ausee) and the finally to Hungary.
On this first photo you see me lounging at a hungarian spa hotel in Esztergom. They had warm towels, but this time I abstained as it was over 35 degrees on the Puszta.
On the second photo you see som hungarian bunnies I liberated from a state own holding facility (I belive they called it a Agricultural Museum)

New sweater

 Pic 1: Yours truly.

Pic 2: Me n me sister.

Hi there, an' happy new year.
Been busy. Went up to ice cold Norway over the X-mas holidays. There I got a new sweater! :-) Well It wasn't really new new, as norskis mother made it over 35 years ago. It's called an "Marius-genser"-sweater. This Marius guy was apparently a famous ski jumper and a fighter pilot in the fifties.
...hmm is anybody reading this?
